Upcoming activity holidays at Milk Harbour Holidays

Five day Residential artist retreat working in oils and en-caustic wax – Sunday 6th October to Friday 11th October 2019

Professional artists Poilin McGowan and Tanis Gordon Smith will provide a supportive environment, suitable for all experience levels, to develop your ideas and skill in oils and the en-caustic wax method.

Poilin has exhibited her en-caustic wax sea and landscape works in London, Berlin, Dublin and Sligo. Tanis specialises in fantasy oils and abstract landscapes creating commissioned paintings based on clients’ requirements.

Poilin and Tanis will:
• Give you an introduction to tools, equipment, techniques and share insider tips;
• Provide one to one tuition to help you explore your desired outcome and assist you in developing your personal project/theme including:
o Deciding on your medium, palette and method;
o Drafting and experimenting; and
o Creating and refining your work.

You will also be encouraged to share ideas and work with the other delegates. The timetable also provides opportunities for downtime to explore the scenery and cultural richness of this amazing locality, after all it is your holiday!

Where is the Retreat held?
The Retreat will be held here at Milk Harbour Holidays’ sea edge location providing:
• Stunning views to inspire your work;
• Workspace in our recently refurbished boathouse workshop and studio;
• Accommodation in four, twin bedded en-suite bedrooms;
• Plenty of areas inside and outside the homestead to relax, enjoy the scenery and get to know your fellow delegates.
• Access to cycles and kayaks, weather and tides permitting!

What does it cost?
• 680 euro per person based on two people sharing a room and 880 euro for single room occupancy.
• The price includes:
o Individual and group tuition on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday and the freedom to work on your project throughout your stay;
o Provision of working materials to commence a project; further canvas and other items can be sourced, at cost, from Poilin and Tan;
o Accommodation for five nights and breakfast each day;
o Lunch on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday
o Single menu, three course, evening meals on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Thursday where all delegates dine together

Indoor activities

Writing workshops; photography; classes in Yoga, Tai Chi, Pilates and other wellness activities; practical workshops in arts and crafts; music and acting workshops; health and wellbeing sessions and a location for other special interest groups and corporate training events.

Outdoor Activities

Fishing, cycling, kayaking, surfing, diving and other water based activities; a base for guided walks and running groups; dry stone walling (DSW) projects, on-site or locally; woodland activity on-site or locally; and access to local horse riding providers.

We will post a schedule of designated activity weeks for 2019 onwards as we approach the end of our re-build project. If you have a particular interest, we would love to hear from you. Please write to us and indicate the type of activity would be of interest to you and your friends.
